The Historic Oakland Cemetery Tour

Welcome to our 2016 Season.

Saturdays, 1 p.m.

Enjoy a 90 minute tour of Oakland Cemetery, the oldest
landmark in Shreveport, established in 1847, and learn about the
lives of some of its “citizens”. Oakland contains the largest collection of
cast iron and wrought iron grave fences in the city, and some of the most
unique tombstones. It contains gravesites dating years before the cemetery
was established…learn why!

Bring your camera, and capture the beauty of Oakland, and possibly
shadowy images, too! Oakland once held park benches, and street signs
marking the numerous streets there, now forgotten to most. It was a place
where family members could sit in the shade of large oak trees, and
remember their loved ones buried there.

The tour also includes a walk down Austin Place, past the haunted
Logan Mansion and Municipal Auditorium on Grand Avenue, now Elvis
Presley Boulevard.

No Reservations Required

Tour begins in the parking lot on Milam St. (east of the cemetery)

The Oakland Cemetery Tour is $10.00 per adult,
$5.00 for children 12 and under.

Tours are cancelled during inclement weather.
